Mismatch unemployment in the European Union – 2026 edition
This publication proposes a method to estimate the structural and cyclical components of unemployment for European countries and the European Union as a whole, using data from the first quarter of 2010 onward. The structural component, driven by mismatches between the skills and locations of jobseekers and employers’ needs has gained renewed attention amid labour shortages in the European Union.
